Robin is the founder and director of River Song Montessori, Inc, a year-round non-profit Montessori school, currently in its seventh year and whose programs are implemented in various other schools around the globe. With over 20 years’ experience as an educator, she has worked in Montessori classrooms across the nation. In addition to her formal training, Robin has received extensive guidance and mentorship from Montessori Master Teachers, which has helped to shape her unique approach in the classroom and her dynamic curricula. Driven by her love of children and fondness for their creativity, Robin helps her students’ imaginations and ideas come to life. Robin is also the guide in the Toddler classroom.

Heather Phillips has been a Montessori Educator for over 21 years. After graduating from St. Mary’s College of California with a B.A. in Liberal Studies/Psychology, she completed her graduate work in Multiple-Subject Teaching and Montessori Education (St. Mary’s Montessori Program is AMS affiliated). She and her husband, and their four beautiful daughters (ranging in age from 11-20) have been living in Bend for the last 7 years, enjoying all that it has to offer. The school’s fundamental values of compassion, independence, respect and community mirror her own motivations for teaching and education.
Emily Friedman, Head Guide Cedar Class
Emily Friedman received her BFA in Art Education with an emphasis in sculpture from the University of Georgia in 2012. She then worked as a public preK-5 Art teacher in rural Georgia before moving to Oregon in 2014. Emily completed her AMI primary certification from Montessori Northwest in Portland along with her M.Ed from Loyola University of Maryland in May before joining the River Song School community. In the Cedar class, Emily aims to foster a community of exploration, independence, and compassion. She is excited to relocate to Bend and explore the beautiful landscape and vibrant community offerings.
Alisha Mann graduated best in her department when she completed her Bachelor’s in Arts with a focus on Arts Education at Winthrop University in South Carolina. She moved to Bend to explore teaching art in the Northwest and Bend’s active lifestyle. She is a working artist and loves sharing her passion for art with children and their creativity constantly inspires her own work.
Meredith Tufts, Communications Coordinator
Meredith Tufts received her AMI Primary training at Montessori Northwest and her Masters of Education from Loyola University of Maryland. She worked as a Montessori primary guide and director in San Diego before returning to Oregon and joining River Song. She found great joy and fulfillment working as the Aspen Head Guide before moving into the position of Communications Coordinator with the arrival of her son in August 2016. She offers support to families and staff at the school, provides training as a Master Trainer with PSU’s Oregon Center for Career Development, and aids in River Song’s administrative functions.
